Weird Excel Problems?

I have a problem with Excel.

Imagine a page with 50 lines of stats, day/year/colour/price

when the program starts to calculate the total value, it gets about half way down (25) and then i have to re load excel and start again.

I work with figures and its a work machine/licence. This is highly annoying and highly inefficient.

example: Day Year Colour Price etc
