What can i do to ensure im getting the most of my internet for downloading, browsing and gaming?

Im using:

Windows Xp Home Edition
Fully updated sp's etc....
Aol internet (speed Touch router)

I think you are referring to the fact that you do not get the download speeds you *think* you paid for to AOL. This is a pretty universal experience actually - more especially on AOL - see here https://www.techspot.com/vb/topic128004.html
