What is ZEN architecture?

I frequently come across the word..." ZEN architecture".... with reference to AMD processors mainly. Though the content in the literature mostly gets me sense to understand but being a technically a non-computer person, I am not getting clarity of the concept. Can some one help me to understand this concept in simple terminologies and language? (or in the best possible simple form)
1. What is Zen, Zen+, Zen2, Zen3 etc? What it implies?
2. How do we come to know that which processor belongs to which type of architecture?
3. Is it belonging to AMD only?
4. What are the comparative properties which could be enlisted?
Regards.

  1. Zen is a clean sheet design that differs from AMD's previous long-standing Bulldozer architecture. Zen-based processors use a 14 nm FinFET process, are reportedly more energy efficient, and can execute significantly more instructions per cycle.
  2. AMD’s high-performance x86 Core “Zen 2” architecture enables 3rd Gen Ryzen™ Processors like the AMD Ryzen™ 9 3900X
  3. "Zen 3" embodies AMD’s relentless focus on single-core performance

Yes Zen-x architecture applies to AMD
