What piece of hardware do you regret buying?

FWIW it did take a phone call to MS to activate windows 10 again on the new main board in the same PC and hdd.

I had the same experience. Had to call, and they had to give me a new license key to replace the one I had converted from WIn7.

If HDD is defective in anyways it's really hard to recover again. So, I don't prefer second hand HDD anymore.

Logitech m705 marathon mouse. Never again.
It had horrible tracking.
All the reviews mislead me.Even the tiny laptop mouse that came with my office laptop tracked better.

Just bought something this blak friday that I need to let off my chest. I thought Street Fighter V's "season's pass" meant just that... access to whole season's content... instead, I didn't even get battle outfits for existing characters. just unlocked charaters that I aready could have using fight money along with their costumes. didn't get those swimsuit outfits either, not those halloween costumes. and S2 is already scheduled for next here. Capcom clearly robbed me this time.

Yeah it was easier for me to think of software I regret buying more than hardware. My biggest regret wasn't about the software itself; it was how much I spent. Once I realized that I had spent over $110 on Battlefield 3 (Digital Deluxe Edition plus all map packs/expansions), I swore off ever paying that much again for a game. I don't think I have gone over $20 since then.

"What piece of hardware do you regret buying?"

Simple, my AMD FX4100.

Don't get me wrong, it's just fine for everyday use, but for gaming is really bad...

Never buy hardware when you're on a gaming frenzy (I really wanted a cheap gaming PC)

I only bought it because I wasn't able to get (and still wish I could get) the phenom II x4 965 back when I built this thing... orz

Wacom Bamboo tablet. I do a lot of photography work and you can online and see everybody using tablets (or rather that's what we called these things before the iPad etc?). It's supposed to be so much better than using a mouse, etc, etc. So I bought one and I tried really hard.. I just can't get used to it and much prefer editing my photos using a good mouse.

My own regret mostly was getting to buy some parts with my teacher for a P4 "Gaming" rig that ill never even use considering I wanted to switch from siemens to a pc but instead low spec laptop because of no space for the pc. Just a shame I wasted my money and the teachers time building it

I feel your misery, even without being able to understand what the heck you're talking about.

I had inherited a Siemens laptop from a family member, it was from 2007. Not being able to play games or anything, not designed for it. So I asked my teacher if we could build a PC for games. I ofcourse spent my money trying to buy the parts for a decent cpu and gpu with what limited budget I had. So we found a Pentium 4 and a Nvidia card and I bought them. Ironically after it was done. My dad bought me a never laptop after arguing that I didnt have any room space for the Pc. So I wasted around.. Not sure of the exchange rate.. 40 dollars? I am from east europe. So thats why.

Gotcha! (y) Although, Siemens being a multi-conglomerate, I actually only recognize then as a manufacturer of automotive finishing materials, not computers. I've never really seen a Siemens computer.Over here for laptops it's Lenovo, Samsung, Asus, Toshiba, Dell, Dell "Alienware" (for heavy duty gaming portables), HP, and of course, the infamous Apple line..

I have an ancient "eMachines" T-5026 from 2005 which I still use almost every day. It's quite a relic. eMachines had an awful reputation for their "Bestec" power supplies failing and taking out the motherboard with them. (Those were 250 watters). The T-5026 is a P-4, 3.06 Ghz single core, and came with a 300 watt Bestec PSU. It still fained in less than 6 months, but it didn't break anything else, just died quietly.

I assume eMachines, not wanting any more trouble with warranty from overloaded PSUs, actually shipped the P-4 machines without the PCI-E socket! Imagine my surprise when I came home with a PCI-E video card, and found no socket to plug it into....Just the holes in the board where the socket should have been,,,:D

Oh well, enough of my ramblings..... "Welcome to Techspot"!

Well, with multinational corporations and known brand names, it's obvious that sooner or later all of them will try to stamp their logo on everything, although sometimes limited to certain markets. Being from EU, I instantly realized the guy is talking about Fujitsu-Siemens, as they sold their line of affordable laptops back in the day here.

Bought the HD-DVD add-on for the xbox 360.... Oh the shame....
Hey ! I have one of those it came with the remote and King Kong in HD.never have used it yet .but if the drive in the 360 ever fails like the bd drive in my ps3.it doesn't become a doorstop like the ps3.never another sony pos in my house.
