I got this comp. at a yardsale so I have no OS cd.

When it gets to the WinPro2000 screen it loads 1/3 of the way and goes to the BSOD INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE. Same in safe-mode.

I can't use recovery due to the lack of a password.

Set it up as a slave to an XP OS and ran chkdsk/r, defrag, seatools, spybot

All come back OK.

ntdetect, ntldr & boot.ini are there:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect

There is only 1 partition on this HDD.

Any suggestions?

Is there a way to access the password in 2k when run as the slave?

Thanks,
jlrka

Hi Jlrka,
Personally i think if the password is stopping u from repairing your OS, then why not rest it...
Download a cd of HIREN BOOT cd and boot from it... that will solve alot of your problem... As for that issue i think then file, win.com and hal.dll are damaged, and i dont know any other way to fix it apart from repairing windows...
Wish u luck..
