Windows 10 installation

My 1-TB Disk has many corrupted spaces and the computer no longer boots up. I realize that the disk needs to be fixed. I also need to know if Windows 10 provides you the opportunity to fix and reformat the disk within the installation process? Or, does fixing the disk need to be done first, before installing Windows.

Hi. Are you running W10 now? What disk needs to be fixed? If your wanting the W10 ISO file, you can find it here.

PS You have a lot going on in your thread. Please post all the information about your issue as you can. I tried to post things that I thought might help, but your thread was a little confusing!;)

During the Windows 10 installation you do have the ability to re-partition and format the drive. However, if your disk has bad sectors and that is the reason it fails to boot, I would be very reluctant to put forth the effort of reformatting and using that drive at all, let alone a boot drive.

I also agree with holdum323, probably need more information on what the actual issue is because it is a bit ambiguous from your wording. There is a link in my signature with some pointers.

Before you jump, try verifying the HD
  • boot into Safe Mode by striking F8 once/sec until you get the B&W screen
  • select Command Prompt startup
  • when you can, enter CHKDSK c: /F /R
  • it will prompt for a restart and do that
