Windows Vista x64 freezing on startup

Hi,
About a month ago my computer( ASUS G2 gaming series laptop, running windows vista 64 bit) stopped working, and i've been to busy to fix so i've just been using a different laptop. Now I want to try and fix my computer, but am unsure how. Whenever I turn my computer on (normally) it just loads the windows screen with the progress bar looping over and over and never gets past it. So I shut it down and try and load in safe mode, and do other things to try and get around it and I noticed that everytime, regardless of what I do, my computer stops loading at crcdisk.exe
I could probably switch my startup priority to load my USB's first so I could run something off it to hopefully fix the inability to load crcdisk, I just need to know what
OR what I should do to fix this.
Thanks

Also, I cant say for certain, but I believe this problem occured right after system update of sorts, but i'm not sure.

Sounds like the hard drive is corrupt. Do you have any "factory restore" functions available as the laptop starts?
