The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x100000d1 (0x00000000, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0xba1e72b5). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini020609-01.dmp.

Hi Welcome to Techspot

If you could get hold of your mini dump that would be mighty useful.
go to the folder at this location --> "C:\WINDOWS\Minidump" on your PC and attach it to the forum.

Other than that everything is a snap in the dark.

I think this was either software or hardware (in regard to the error code 1003) so...

Do you have the latest service pack?
I'm following that you have Windows XP because there are no specs anywhere. Take a look here http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q317277
Follow the instructions if you can.

Then,
Follow the instruction HERE

You need to mount it to CD and boot from that. It will check your RAM and CPU for problems. If anything is found then generally the hardware needs replacing. Run it for 7 passes.

See what happens.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunetly, I dont have enough posts to be adding attachemtns to this posting. Yes I'm running XP with SP2. This is the company standard so I can't change that. I will run the memtest tonight and let you know the results. Thanks!

This is the exact error that I got the other day.

BugCheck 100000D1, {0, 2, 1, ba1e72b5}
Probably caused by : USBPORT.SYS
If your modem is plugged in via USB, change it to ethernet
Ethernet does not require extra drivers to run the modem

Otherwise check other USB devices, for Driver updates (actually even check your own system for driver updates)
Here's a good thread to check for driver updates: https://www.techspot.com/vb/topic117607.html

Also you really should have Service Pack 3, completed through Windows updates
Having SP2 still is not ideal

The user does not use the modem. Should I just uninstall it all together? Unfortunetly, I can't goto SP3 as it hasn't been approved by the company yet.

The PC is a Dell 490
Service Tag: D9SK4G1

I dont see a driver for USB. Where should I be looking?

Thanks!!

Well you can use this thread to update your drivers at least: https://www.techspot.com/vb/topic100658.html

But if a USB modem (as I thought may be the issue) is not plugged in, then the USB driver will not be in use anyway, but ideally, if found in add\remove programs, remove it.

Unfortunetly, I can't goto SP3 as it hasn't been approved by the company yet
Your company is stopping a security, Service Pack update

Ok thanx! The problem hasn't reoccured. I will update the drivers and hope that it dosen't happen again.

By the way, SP3 is an automatic update on most users computers
GeeWiz the company better change their policy, otherwise users may have to format :D and turn off Automatic Updates ;) (not preferred)

Anyway, keep us informed of any updates :)
