I have a Realtek AC '97 onboard audio device and at first, my sound went out and the device manager said there was nothing wrong. I then completely uninstalled the driver, and tried to force the driver install with no success. It kept saying "This device can not start (code 10)". I then completely uninstalled the driver and went into my device manager only to find a yellow exclamation point beside Multimedia Audio Controller. I have no clue what a Multimedia Audio Controller is, or how to fix it. My system specs are as follows: Field Value Computer Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition OS Service Pack Service Pack 2 DirectX 4.09.00.0904 (DirectX 9.0c) Computer Name BRANDON User Name Compaq_Owner Motherboard CPU Type AMD Sempron, 1790 MHz (9 x 199) Motherboard Name MSI RS482M2/RX482M2 (MS-7093) (3 PCI, 1 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR DIMM, Audio, Video, LAN, IEEE-1394) Motherboard Chipset ATI Radeon Xpress 200, AMD Hammer System Memory 768 MB (DDR SDRAM) BIOS Type Award (08/01/05) Communication Port ECP Printer Port (LPT1) Display Video Adapter Radeon X1650 Series Secondary (512 MB) Video Adapter Radeon X1650 Series (512 MB) Monitor Compaq FP7317 [17" LCD] (CNN3320L5S) Multimedia Audio Adapter ATI SB400 - AC'97 Audio Controller Storage IDE Controller ATI IDE Controller IDE Controller Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller Disk Drive Generic USB SD Reader USB Device Disk Drive Generic USB CF Reader USB Device Disk Drive Generic USB SM Reader USB Device Disk Drive Generic USB MS Reader USB Device Disk Drive ST380011A (80 GB, 7200 RPM, Ultra-ATA/100) Optical Drive LITE-ON LTR-52327S (52x/32x/52x CD-RW) SMART Hard Disks Status OK Partitions C: (NTFS) 70557 MB (12997 MB free) D: (FAT32) 5739 MB (567 MB free) Total Size 74.5 GB (13.2 GB free) Input Keyboard Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard Mouse PS/2 Compatible Mouse Network Network Adapter Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC (192.168.1.100) Modem Agere Systems PCI Soft Modem Peripherals Printer Fax Printer Microsoft XPS Document Writer USB1 Controller ATI SB400 - USB Controller USB1 Controller ATI SB400 - USB Controller USB2 Controller ATI SB400 - USB 2.0 Controller USB Device USB Mass Storage Device Problems & Suggestions Problem Disk free space is only 10% on drive D:.
