YouTube is experimenting with showing ads when you pause a video

I just pay for premium, and I never have to worry about ads, the platform and the creators have to make a profit somehow. Too many people complain about adverts, but without them the platform wouldn't exist. Ads from the creator directly support the creator and it's unfair to complain about it since you are only paying for the content with your time and nothing else.
I can accept (short and applicable) ads from the creator. Youtube want a monthly subscription that's more than Netflix to simply provide content that's given to them. I would feel an ***** paying such a subscription because I'm effectively being blackmailed with ads if I don't. YMMV.

Something is going on either with YouTube or spectrum(my internet provider)! I have 374.64Mbp Download but when I am watching a live stream on YouTube (Firefox Browser) I get dropouts that cause Firefox to go to the buffering circle and I have to refresh the page to get the video going again!🤬 It Does it on a different computer,in Chrome also. Bought a new router, still does it!😲 I have to lower the resolution to 240p to keep the video from stopping in Firefox. The only browser it doesn't do it on is Edge😱 Even turning off my ad blocker doesn't help!! Edge maybe able to recover from the dropout better. The dropouts only seem to last a couple of seconds! Anyone have any Ideas??
I thought adblocker does it. I have it sometimes too. Although I am not sure if it happens on all browsers since I mostly use brave for Utube
I am on Zipply.

Not a fan of this. When I pause a video many times its to check out some video settings for a video game or hardware to make it run the best it can while looking great. Having an ad blocking me from writing down the settings or taking a cell phone picture of the information to look at while in a games graphics setting would be very annoying. Am all for Youtube making money since they deliver quality service and I have been watching them every day since their early days 2006 but this aint it yet.

What would be cool is Youtube allowing us to choose what ads we want to see according to our likes and dislikes. When am not using an adblocker or Youtube has gotten over the adblocker temporarily I usually watch tech and health related ads since they are done professionally and give me useful information on services I may be interested in unlike some useless get rich scheme ad with a screaming nobody who looks like some two bit street hustler.

Does this apply to all YouTube videos, or specifically just all livestreams, or specially to one particular live streamer? There's probably a clue in that.

Edge does have exclusive access to a video playback process for certain protected content, which is why for example if everything else is right too Netflix will stream in higher than 1080p to Edge but not to the other two browsers. That doesn't sound like what's going on in your situation though.

Is it possible the browsers are configured differently for maybe using a VPN, or using different DNS servers, or using hardware video decoding? If so that could make a difference.

Otherwise I'm not sure what's going on, it's not something I've seen myself.
It is mainly one particular live streamer but that maybe because I watch him more?? I have seen it on others occasionally and even a regular video! I wish there was a program I could use to check for internet drop outs to see if it is my provider (spectrum). I tried running PTRG network monitor but couldn't figure out how to use it, Wow!! PS:I tried turning off my Adblocker but didn't help, brave did the same thing. I see it happening in Edge but in Edge the live video glitches and goes on, in Firefox it hangs and I have to refresh the page to get it to go on! It is intermittent. I have DuckDuckGo privacy essentials, I will try turning that off next time?? It probably would play hell with online games but I don't play!😲

An alternative (I.e., an alternative platform) will still have to be paid for, which means ads, subscription, or both.
