Rumor mill: These are uncertain times we live in, but one thing most people agree on is that we won't see the RTX 6000 series until 2028. Soon after one major leaker blamed Team Green's latest delay on the memory crisis, another has echoed the claims.
Kopite7kimi, one of the most renowned leakers when it comes to graphics cards, previously predicted that the Rubin-based GeForce RTX 6000 series cards would launch sometime in the second half of 2027.
But the leaker now believes that Nvidia is pushing that release back even further, all the way into 2028.

Kopite7kimi's post comes days after the other major GPU leaker, Kepler_L2, made a similar prediction. Kepler said both the RTX 6000 cards and AMD's RDNA 5-based Radeon 10000 series wouldn't get here until 2028. However, AMD's "AT2" GPU, which could compete against the GeForce RTX 5080, is still reportedly on track to launch next year.
It's been almost 20 months since the RTX 5000 series launched with the release of the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090. If the RTX 6000 cards land in the second half of 2028, that would make the gap between generational launches 3 years 5 months to 3 years 11 months (41 - 47 months). It's certainly a lot longer than the average gap of about 26 months between generations.
There are no prizes for guessing what's behind the delays. The memory crisis has led to the price of many components skyrocketing – the RTX 5090 is often between $7,000 and $9,000 – as AI demand is given priority.
This prioritization of AI is also why the RTX 5000 Super series isn't here. There were reports in July that Nvidia may actually have the GPUs ready, but they are being held back by expensive 3GB GDDR7 modules.
Gamers hope that the industry will have settled somewhat by late 2028, which should mean that the RTX 6000 cards don't arrive with price tags that put them out of reach of all but the richest (or msot debt-prone) fans. Unfortunately, SK Hynix is just one of several firms that believe things will actually get worse next year, with the crunch continuing until 2030. At least Acer's CEO is a bit more optimistic.
