In brief: Another Thursday, another free game courtesy of the Epic Games Store. This week's freebie is Midnight Ghost Hunt, a multiplayer hide-and-seek game that first hit the store as an early access title last year.
In this 4v4 game from Vaulted Sky Games and Coffee Stain Publishing, you will alternate playing as both a ghost and a hunter in a "chaotic struggle between the living and the dead." As a ghost, you'll possess everyday items and work with your fellow spooks to set traps and ambush hunters. Conversely, hunters are tasked with banishing all spirits before the clock strikes 12 and the hunters become the hunted.
The game features several haunted locations with various props to possess, each providing different tactics to consider – and items to hurl at hunters. The game looked rather polished from the early access gameplay trailer, and likely has only gotten better over the past year.
On Steam, most of the game's more than 4,300 reviews are Very Positive.
Midnight Ghost Hunt hit the Epic Games Store as an early access title on March 31, 2022, and is normally priced at $19.99.
The freebie is part of the ongoing Epic Games Mega Sale which kicked off last month and runs through June 15. Each week, Epic drops a new free game for players to scoop up. The first was Death Stranding and last week, Fallout: New Vegas was on offer. Once claimed, the freebie is yours to keep.
Highlights from the ongoing sale include half off Dying Light 2: Stay Human, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, and TOHU. Battlefield 2042, Anno 1800 Standard Edition and PC Building Simulator, meanwhile, can be had for 75 percent off their regular price.
