In brief: Having launched its first set of Ryzen 7000 series processors last year, AMD is working on successors that are tipped to be announced in 2024. To be marketed under the Ryzen 8000 moniker, the 'Strix Point' APUs could feature up to 12 Zen 5-class cores and an integrated GPU based on RDNA 3.5.
The info comes from prolific tipster Golden Pig Upgrade, who revealed a few key aspects of the Ryzen 8000 Monolithic APUs on Chinese social media site Bilibili (h/t HXL). It is worth noting that alongside the monolithic design, some Ryzen 8000 APUs are also expected to feature a chiplet design, but the latest leak didn't reveal anything about it.
According to the new info, the Strix Point Monolithic APUs could feature a hybrid CPU design with a single CCD and dual CCX. While one of the CCXs is tipped to feature 4 Zen 5 CPU cores and 8 threads, the other is said to come with 8 Zen 5C CPU cores and 16 threads for a total of 12 cores and 24 threads. The chip could also come with a total of 24MB of L3 cache, with the Zen 5 CCX accounting for 16MB and the Zen 5C CCX sporting 8MB.

The tipster also claimed that the RDNA 3.5-based integrated GPU in the Strix Point APUs will have 8 Work Group Processors, which corresponds to 1,024 stream processors. If the rumor turns out to be accurate, it would represent a 33 percent increase in the number of stream processors over RDNA 3, which should make it an impressive upgrade over the Radeon 780M, currently the fastest RDNA 3 iGPU.
It is worth noting that the latest information comes just days after a Ryzen 8000 engineering sample was spotted on the MilkyWay@home database, revealing some key aspects of the upcoming lineup, including the Zen 5 Monolithic Design and RDNA 3.5 iGPU cores. An earlier leak also claimed that the Strix Point 'Halo' chips (Ryzen 8050-H series) could ship with up to 16 Zen 5 cores and 32 threads.
The Ryzen 8000 series will compete against Intel's Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake processors. While the former is expected to be launched later this year, the latter could come in late 2024 or early 2025. Meanwhile, there's not a lot more information on Strix Point for now, but we hope to get more leaks in the coming months.
