Apple iPhone 11

The iPhone 11 is easily the best choice for most people, but if you care about display or design, skip it.

For iPhone XR users, I wouldn't recommend upgrading to the iPhone 11 just yet. You can wait for around 6 months and hope for the prices to drop in India, or wait for the iPhone 12 to come out, which should offer a more substantial upgrade in terms of hardware and display.

The iPhone 11 is arguably the pick of Apple's new brood and a brilliant all-rounder.

The iPhone 11 strikes a brilliant balance between features and price. You wouldn't know it's the cheaper of Apple's 2019 phones from its build, camera and speed. If only it had an OLED screen.

The same holds true for Apple’s decisions and compromises around the iPhone 11. What’s important is how balanced those decisions have turned out to be, and how well-rounded the phone turns out to be as a result. If the most expensive iPhones are meant for the pros, then the iPhone 11 is intended for the everyman, and that sounds just fine.

So who is the iPhone 11 for? Well, if you’re just looking for a capable smartphone and don’t have any issues with Android, then there are better, more affordable options out there. If however, you are looking to buy an iPhone in particular and don’t want to go for older devices in the lineup as they miss out on quite a few features, I think the iPhone 11 should be your choice. Unless you are a display nerd or looking for a compact option… in which case the iPhone 11 Pro is a better, albeit pricey option. With that said, if you own the iPhone XR or iPhone X for that matter, I’d suggest to wait for the 2020 iPhones as they are expected to come with overhauled designs among other upgrades.

The iPhone 11 offers solid camera performance and power to spare for a relatively reasonable price. It isn't exciting, but it's a good replacement for older iPhones.

The iPhone XR was one of Apple’s most popular phones and I can’t see any reason why the iPhone 11 won’t be just as successful. Apple has seen what most people want and instead of making this seem like a cheaper version of the true flagship it has given it the full iPhone 11 name. Unless you’re a complete sucker for an OLED display, or particularly want the zoomed telephoto lens, then there isn’t much you’re missing out on by not getting the Pro model. Especially when you consider the over £300/$300 saving you’re making by going for this version. If you’re coming from an iPhone XR you might want to wait a year and see what the 2020 iPhone brings. However, if you’re updating an older iPhone then you’ll notice the vast array of improvements to camera, battery life and overall design straight away.
