The Garmin Fenix 9 Pro offers design upgrades and introduces some new software features to push the flagship adventure watch further ahead of the competition. It’s a gorgeous watch with outstanding sports and navigation features, and the 51mm model I tested offers incredible battery life too. However, it’s very expensive, and the Fenix 8 Pro is better value if you don’t need the latest watch on your wrist.

The Garmin Fenix 9 Pro is the company's most advanced training, mapping, and connectivity watch yet. Mapping is fast and clear, the titanium case feels durable yet lightweight, and the built-in flashlight is a must-have. Battery life on the solar model is excellent, and the option to add satellite communication through inReach across every size is a major safety upgrade for anyone who spends real time off-grid. The catch is the eye-watering price.

I was kind of expecting to see more new features that differentiated the Fenix 9 and Fenix 9 Pro over the outgoing Fenix 8. But despite no new golf features to speak of, the titanium case and upgraded screen of made a bigger impact than I expected them to. If you have an 8 or an 8 Pro, there isn't a ton of reason to upgrade to the new model. But if you're debating between buying an 8, 9, or 9 Pro? I think it's worth a little extra money to go with the latest model.

It’s not perfect. The start/stop lag is real and annoying, and the Hyrox tracking isn’t there yet. But if you want the most capable, most self-sufficient Fenix Garmin currently sells—one that keeps itself charged, keeps you findable, and reads like a dream in any light—this is the one.
