Benchmarks: File Read Performance

The Patriot Supersonic USB 3.0 64GB is clearly cream of the crop with a read speed of 116MB/s in our ISO file test. This made it 39% faster than the Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 64GB which averaged just 83.3MB/s. The AData Nobility N005 64GB was even slower at 79.6MB/s, but this is still more than 2x faster than the USB 2.0 performance. All drives maxed out at around 33MB/s when using the USB 2.0 interface.

The Supersonic USB 3.0 64GB provided an average read throughput of 90.2MB/s in our game test, making it 19% faster than the Nobility N005 64GB, which was slightly faster than the DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0, beating it by just 3MB/s.

The program read test provided us with similar performance trends. Patriot led the pack once again with 89.6MB/s or 35% faster than AData's drive, which again fared slightly better than the DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0.
