AI-generated game worlds are still highly experimental
Gaming Slop: Google recently showcased updates to its Genie 3 platform, offering another glimpse at how AI might one day generate interactive worlds on the fly. The technology is advancing, but a key challenge remains: maintaining world consistency. For now, the model can only sustain coherent environments for short bursts before scenes begin to unravel, keeping the technology far from reliable enough for use in a professional game development workflow.

In brief: Nvidia is using this year's Game Developers Conference to outline the full launch of DLSS 4.5, add five upcoming games to its list of titles supporting path tracing, and offer an early glimpse at RTX Mega Geometry foliage. The company also provided an update on RTX Remix, highlighting this week's launch of a path-traced version of Quake III Arena.
Wow! Larian Studios stunned the crowd during a panel discussion at the Game Developers Conference. He clarified that fans shouldn't get their hopes up for any DLC, expansions, or a Baldur's Gate 4.

Highly anticipated: Black Myth: Wukong has been one of the most impressive-looking upcoming games since its initial 2020 unveiling. With the release date a few months away, Nvidia has announced that it will become the third AAA game to employ path tracing. Additionally, the popular free-to-play game Naraka Bladepoint will receive path tracing through an update soon.
Puzzle adventure 'Cocoon' is also a big surprise with five GDC nominations
GOTY: Larian's critically acclaimed RPG dominated the Golden Joystick Awards, The Game Awards, and the DICE Awards, securing numerous accolades across all three events, including Game of the Year. This winning streak is poised to continue at the BAFTA Games Awards and the GDC Awards this spring. Other strong contenders for both upcoming events include Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and Cocoon.
