32 bits not available?

when trying to hook up my portable hard drive it says 32 bits not available what does that mean?

Is this a new hard drive?
If so, It may have come formatted as FAT rather than FAT32 or NTFS.
Look in disk Management to see what it shows up as. Tt mouse on my computer, select manage and Disk Management
