A man could face a decade in prison for a fake crocodile photo he made with Gemini

I won’t say right or wrong as I’m not versed enough in individual beliefs there:
Singapore census
I can only look at the text.
Of course. Like, didn't even read the text in my Wiki link at all.

Here's another one:

In Singapore about 11% of the total population is Taoist, including the 14.4% of Chinese Singaporeans identifying as Taoists. In Malaysia, around 10% of Chinese Malaysians practice Chinese folk religions, corresponding to around 1% of the country's population. However, numbers may be significantly larger since many folk religious Chinese register as "Buddhists" for census purposes.

It's like the Monkey King mythology (gamers may have recently enjoyed the Wukong title). There's all the assorted deities from evolved-Taoism, but Buddha is included in that pantheon and only he had the ability and power to suppress the Monkey King.

This conversation has gone off the rails.
But calling Taoism a folk religion is rather disingenuous.

The commenter came in with extremely racist and xenophobic rhetoric. That was identifiably inaccurate.

I’ll agree that there are both those that lied for census, and those, like any religion, that have mixed religions (Christianity is a prime example). The country as a whole is very non-theistic outwardly. That was my point.

Didn't call Taoism a folk religion. Folk religion is syncretic, and Taoism itself has evolved over the centuries and taken on a distinct form for the Southern Chinese and the Chinese diaspora. The country as a whole is quite religious outwardly, though if you dig deeper, you'll find that many turn towards faith just to please the older generations or for important milestones. They would hold joss sticks at funeral wakes, or accompany their family members to famous temples and places of worship to acquire some favour and fortune from the gods.

By any chance, are you actually residing in Singapore right now?

No, you didn’t, I misread your post. Sorry.

No, but I have friends there. I’ve spent time there. I have a lot of love and respect for the country.

Most of us with any knowledge of the area could figure out what the op was implying that set me off. Not only does the opinion have no basis in fact, it’s not even the right country.
