Athletics apparel specialist Adidas has announced what it’s calling the future of performance footwear. Futurecraft 3D, the company’s first 3D printed shoe, contains a midsole that can be tailored to match the exact contours and pressure points of a person’s feet.

Adidas, who partnered with 3D printing specialist Materialise on the project, said it envisions a future where customers can walk into one of their stores, hop on a treadmill for a few minutes then have a pair of 3D printed shoes ready to take home.

A little too late for me, I already have knee problems associated with shoes not fitting right. Think they can come out with this technology in two weeks before my half marathon?
