Advice on OS

  1. I'm planning out a new system, with 4gigs ram, and an AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+.

I run Adobe software, like Premier, Encore, and PhotoShop 7, along with some other things that would be 32-bit. I know about the 32bit emulator, but with 4 gigs, would I see a major performance decrease?

Should I go with Windows Vista 64? Or should I run XP 32bit for compatability's sake, and run a single core processor?
I was considering XP 64 bit, but Microsoft doesn't even offer much on it, so I don't think there will be much support for it.

I would run WXP Professional... until you know how best to use VISTA 64... you will have problems with your Adobe Software with VISTA 64 until you upgrade them.

Is that XP Pro 32bit? I figure Vista should have updated drivers, and hopefully 3rd party vendors are caught up a little better....

Is XP able to utilize both cores on a dual processor?
