AMD Radeon RX 6800S Review: Power Efficient GPU for Gaming Laptops

They even had to rename and release an entirely new version of the game just shoehorn RT in with Metro Exodus. A PR stunt. You can still play Metro Exodus on any card and as usual, RT differences are rarely if ever worth the FPS loss. If you're arguing for DLSS, now that's a real feature improvement as at least it *adds* FPS. But RT. Lol, no.
RT is the future for gaming, AMD GPUs are just too slow to use it and yeah it makes a huge difference when it comes to immersion. You simply don't know, because you have yet to experience playing with RT. Not a single AMD GPU can do proper RT.

AMD is cheaper for a reason; Lacks features, uses cheap memory aka GDDR6 on small 64-256 bit busses.

256 bit bus and GDDR6 for flagship stuff like 6900XT is laughable and the reason why 4K+ performance sucks

Ampere is better for mining and gaming.

And FSR is a joke compared to DLSS in games that support both.

AMD tries so hard to match Nvidia features but fails doing so. Hence the drop in marketshare. AMD will be below 10% dGPU marketshare in a few years from now, unless they wake up. They have crappy offerings in almost every segment. Overpriced and gimped products.

99 out of 100 will buy Nvidia over AMD if they have the same perf per dollar. It is as simple as that.

Intel Arc is coming fast for low to mid-end which is AMDs prime segment.

Nvidia pretty much owns high-end, and have for years at this point.

RT is the future for gaming,
But people want higher FPS now, not in the future. RT certainly is the future of gaming and when Full Time Path Tracing is available in games the visuals will be damn near lifelike. Today's RT is some glass, some mirrors and some water. Maybe shadows. Next to useless. Like all of today's RT cards will be for true Full Time Path Tracing.

"Proper" in your opinion only. RT is still a tech demo with extremely limited use and effectiveness. Sometimes it can look better. Many times it just looks different.

Paper tech specs mean nothing, only performance does. If you want max FPS at 4K, you get an Nvidia card. That's why they cost twice AMD cards, for 5-15% more frames at 4K. You spend that money, most won't. They won't buy either because arguing cost-no-object flagships is laughable fanboy stuff.

Always with the "if". The problem is they don't sell for the same. You get more frames per dollar in mainstream cards with AMD right now. And AMD still has a turd like the 6500 that can't even do that.

I get it, you're a Nvidia fanboy and that's cool. Bash the "other side" if it makes you feel better, you do you.

I'm a cost per frame fanboy which is why I have a 6600XT. And a 5600XT. And a 1080. And a 1660 Super. And a 1060 6GB.

Simply enable DLSS if you want higher fps. DLSS is supported in tons of games and beats FSR when a game has both.

3090 Ti is 17% faster than 6900XT in 4K gaming, not anywhere near 5%; https://www.techpowerup.com/review/msi-geforce-rtx-3090-ti-suprim-x/32.html

17% + Options for DLSS means much better 4K gaming perf on flagships.

I don't buy low-end stuff; AMDs low to mid-end is pretty trash these days, with 64-128 bit bus and gimped PCIe speed from 16x to 8x meaing every card below 6700XT trash for 1440p. 6500 and 6600 series barely does 1080p well.

Low end cards will always have best performance per dollar. They are cheap for a reason; Because they are slow. Pointless metric and useless if you expect games to run well at 1440p or higher. 6500 and 6600 series are absolute trash for 1440p gaming which is why AMD markedet them for 1080p gamers.

When DLSS is available. Or FSR for that matter. Problem: not always available. So get higher FPS/cost card and you're *always* set.

OK. That changes nothing about both cards being ridiculous. the 6900XT is merely slightly less ridiculous as it's half the price of the 3090Ti.

You are speaking from ignorance. Getting wrapped up in paper specs instead of actual FPS. When playing. In a game. Not little numbers on a page.

I use a 6600XT. With a 128-bit bus. Because it is faster at 1440p than a 3060 and also much cheaper when I bought it (still is - $410 vs $490).

It's very simple: $410 for more FPS at 1440p beats $490 for less FPS at 1440p.

Specs are BS. Performance is not.

Again more ignorance. 6500 is trash if you use it with a PCI-E 3 board.

6600 and 6600XT are not. Unless you think that the 3060 and 3050 are also trash, which maybe you agree with?

Oh wow. a 6800S using navi 23, yay a very weak laptop.. awesome...... I can run my Navi21 RX 6800 Desktop with 16GB of 16Gbps GDDR6 vram and @ 1900Mhz @ only 150watts max @ 144hz/144fps locked..... so lame AMD Navi23S models 6800S 6700S and with half the ram..... id rather keep my desktop or build my own mini PC with a dedicated screen with samll foot print but using 5800X3D and Navi 21 (RX 6800) and power limit it to 150 watts (like AMD Radeon R9 Nano) WHY NOT ITX FORMS OF NAVI21, dont tell me it cant be done. Look how dense nVidia's RTX 30 Series Is I mena my GODS out their...... WTF??? an RTX 3090Ti 24GB is only likemaybe 8" length???? Founders any way... and some models look even smaller like 3080Ti founders? with a watter block u can install in some very tight spots.....

im gonna build my mni pc with 5800X3D and Navi 21 (6800 (NON XT NAvi21 Die) 128MB IC. 60CUs/ 16GB 16Gbps GDDR6 and 2-3x Gen4 nvme M.2 slots. and 1-2 Sata ports and usual base amounts of USB2/3.1 Gen1 and 3.2G2 up to gen2x2 20Gbps tupe c..... LAME ill out pace all OEMs screw em.... I have 6x NAvi 21 Chips and all ram do do it and several AM4 cpus I wanna use. so yeah and many x570/B550 chipsets...
