AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Review: Gaming Efficiency FTW!

Just 50 dollars more than 7700X? Not here in Germany, it's 50% more expensive!
However, I am waiting for Zen 5 for sure. Will be a big leap. And then I hope they will put 3D cache on all the cores on "8900X3D" and "8950X3D" because I think I want more than 8C/16T next time.

Solution: buy a Process Lasso Pro license, and tie your games exes to the X3D Vcache enabled die!
That's for those who use their rig to work *and* play, gamers will prefer the less expensive little sibling of course, but that is a practical solution if you want to have the best and/or a multipurpose machine I think.

Who wants to fiddle with that, every time they start applications/games tho?

Why bother rushing when Intel and Nvidia have an army of "reviewers" which will do it just to create and inflate this "drama"?
Techspot has a more down to earth and objective approach, and I am sure that will do it if Asus and/or AMD will not take proper steps to resolve this issue through a Bios update, a reassurance of warranty and an apology from Asus. Let's give them time to take the proper steps.

P.S. Hey Asus, I payed 20% higher price for a certified AMD EXPO Memory kit!

Not sure where the ASUS jabs are coming from when this issue has presented across Gigabyte, MSI, and ASRock boards as well, and additionally in both 3D and non 3D chips.

It seems that the issue is a big one. And AMD is involved in this more than what they like to admit.
Asus, initially stated that:
"After speaking with ASUS, it was brought to my attention that this technically isn't warrantied with AMD due to the use of EXPO."
I have an Asus X670E MB, and Asus said that will not cover warranty?

Just like with Intel XMP, AMD EXPO means you overclock and overclocking voids warranty. Applies on both AMD and Intel. Simple.

I knew, and I agree with you. Though, also I have to clarify that MB manufacturers, RAM manufacturers, Intel and AMD, all should state warranty conditions more clear on their products, which they do not, like in red letters. So good luck in convincing them.

Yeah, good luck combining "superduper feature" with all warnings about losing warranty if used...

Not every time. You it's a "set and forget" thing. This software is a gem. But read my post again, for people who want to play games AND work on the same CPU, this is a good solution to force games to use the best cores. Incidentally, you can also use it to reduce power consumption to reduce the number of cores a given app uses to the minimum required without lowering performance, and it works!
 
The 7950X3D exisist for a couple of reasons.
1. You are both a gamer and a prosumer, that can utilize all cores for work.
2. AMD want to sell an expensive processor, and if they can why shouldn't they?
3. Test vehicle for future heterogeneous CPUs.

Well they could at least put 3D cache on all cores then, 7900X3D makes no sense for me because of this. You only get 6 cores with 3D cache on that chip. 6 cores in each CCD. I would prefer 7800X3D over 7900X3D because of this fact. When a game wants to use more than 6 cores, non-3D cores are getting dragged in, lowering gaming perf. Pointless chip really.

Also, AMD should not have delayed the 7800X3D just to sell some of the more expensive one first, because gaming perf is pretty much the same - 7800X3D even beats the bigger ones in many games. AMD did this on purpose for sure.

You can assign apps to physical cores with 3D cache, so that it always runs on designated CPU cores, so this is not really and issue... ;-)
Use Process Lasso or manually create shortcuts to assign accelerated cores to your games, and that's it. Lots of tutos on the internet that explain how to do it, it's no big deal really.

I know project Lasso but this is still an issue because it just needs to work instead of doing stuff like this. With 3D cache on all cores, playing around with 3rd party apps would not be needed.

Yes, you are right, but to me, it's really not a big deal. And learning how to to do this is a bonus for me, as I'm always eager to learn new things regarding tech and computers. I've been using them since my early teens in the 80's, started on an Apple ][+ (yeah, I know, I'm an old geezer...)
I think AMD's solution is ok, since it makes a CPU that can be used for all applications. If you're only gaming, then choose a CPU that is more oriented for this task. (BTW, it's *process* lasso ;-)
 
actually if they are worried about power consumption the 7600x came close in power usage and at 1440p and 4k will have negligible performance delta in real world which saves you hundreds of dollars.

Plus you still have an upgrade path and the money saved can be applied to a better gpu. Linus tech tips paired the 7800x3d with a 6700xt 🤣 while the money saved could get you the 6950XT at $549.99 with cpu Combo at microcenter and see almost double performance in rasterization.

I'm curious now, I got both a 6700xt and a 6900xt, can you give the link for that Linus benchmarks using 6700xt with 7800x3d?
