AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D Memory Scaling: Does DDR5 Performance Matter?

7900X3D was released because otherwise web would be full of comments like "AMD only released top model and forces users to buy best and most expensive one blah blah". 7900X3D also sold out quickly, no-one wants that yeah :D

They delayed 7800X3D because there simply are not enough 3D-cache chips available. Now we know that while 3D-cache is made on 7nm process, it's different than 7nm used on cache chips used on 5800X3D. If AMD cannot make enough cache chips for $699 CPU, how would there be enough for $449 CPU?
AMD is always doing paperlaunches, nothing new here.

When they have 1000 units ready, they launch worldwide and then people just need to wait for restock.

IHS is extremely thick on 7950X3D and 7900X3D. Delidding can lower temps by 20-30C. Lets hope AMD reacts on this, for 7800X3D because I want one. Maybe. If AMD does not gimp it too much. If they do, I can wait for Intel 14th Gen or Ryzen 8000.

So why no 6 core zen4 3d part hmm?

Product that sells well is not paper launch. Just like with Zen3. AMD shipped million units on one quarter for retail but when demand exceeds sipply, there is shortage. 7950X3D is far from paper launch, just it's so good product that everyone wants it. This whole thing is just normal "whatever AMD does, no matter, they suck anyway" -type.

At least it's just HS and not toothpaste like Intel decided to use. 7800X3D specs are already public, if it's thickness of IHS, that's unknown.

Yes it is, when you launch with almost zero products available, it will sell out fast, obviously.

7950X3D makes no sense for most gamers, they want 7800X3D with 3D cache on all cores and with a much lower price point, or just get a i7-13700K. The extra money for i9 or 7950X3D are better spent on GPU. 7900X3D is useless.

AMD relies 100% on TSMC. Without TSMC they would not be able to compete. At least Intel holds their own and they could easily deliver chips during COVID because of no middle man

TSMC knows this, and this is probably the reason why AMD hiked the prices more and more. TSMC wants bigger and bigger cut. They know AMD have no other choice than TSMC.

AMD is losing the GPU market fast.
Intel is eating back CPU market share as well.

Lets hope TSMC won't milk AMD too much going forward, or it's back to GloFo 12nm :joy: Which was more like a 16nm proces.

Yeah right. On single retailer (Mindfactory) 7900X3D sold 360 units in two days, three times more than 13900K. 7950X3D sold out in few minutes.

Yes, there were stock but AMD products are just too popular.

Those "useless" CPUs seem to sell like hotcakes.

Before Covid Intel had serious supply problems. Solution: build more 14nm+++++++ factories :joy: 🤦‍♂️

AMD losing GPU market? FYI, every Ryzen 7000-series CPU also has GPU so unlike previous Ryzens, they count as both CPU AND GPU *nerd*

GlobalFoundries had 7nm production ready but decided it was too expensive. So much about "TSMC is milking AMD" -trash. GF12nm was slightly modified 14LPP from Samsung.

By calling the 7950X3D a paper launch is not intended to trigger the brand loyalists but to trigger AMD to release more supply and prove us wrong . Microcenter restocks their stores on Wednesdays and Fridays and 10 days post launch the 7950X3D is still unavailable as well as on Amazon ( Scalped price), Bestbuy, AMD's website, BandH, Gamestop and Newegg ( Scalped pricing.)

Perhaps AMD already released all they had ready and they are making another batch? And that takes some time. Unless they release so small stock that it's sold out in minutes.

I hope they release more, because that would mean they are losing on opportunity on getting those sold. I don't even want to conclude that the 8 core 3D-cache dies have poor yields yet either. Once the 7800X3D comes out the demand for the niche 7950X3D cpu should nose dive. Let's observe.

Probably all spare 3D cache dies go for 7950X3D first and 7800X3D get very low supply. April 6 is probably too soon for 7800X3D but it has already confirmed so it will sold out even faster than 7950X3D.

It's easy to sell out 1000 chips worldwide, 100 probably went for reviewers haha. Most are waiting for 7800X3D anyway, the others are pretty trash for most people. 7900X3D especially, imagine only getting 6 cores with 3d cache, at least 7800X3D gets the full 8 cores.

Read 7950X3D review here again. "Gamers! Don't buy this one." :joy: :joy: 7950X3D with 2nd CCD disabled performed better in gaming :joy:

AMD probably saves most of 3D cache dies for 7800X3D because it's the true 5800X3D replacement that 90% will buy. 7900X3D is worse, essentially only a 6C part when 3D cache is enabled.

The GPU inside Ryzen 7000 is just as trash as Intels. Actually it's worse :joy: It took how many years for AMD to put an iGPU on their CPUs? Intel dominates iGPU x86 market completely anyway.

Intel did not have supply issues really, they sold millions and millions of chips during covid. They actually completely destroyed AMD in terms of sales especially in the enterprise sector  AMD big problem is that most enterprises don't want AMD products still. I know it's hard to accept for an AMD fanboy but that is just reality for you.

TSMC will keep milking AMD dry because AMD have no other option than to pay them. AMD can't beat Intel and Nvidia without having a node advantage :joy: Global Foundries was and is pure trash. That is the reason why Ryzen 1000 and 2000 sucked hard.

Intel sits on 99% marketshare when it comes to enterprise laptops  this market is ten times bigger than the consumer laptop space, if not more.

Most companies try AMD laptops and then comes rushing back to Intel because of dock/port rep issues and monitor issues all over. Drivers are simply pure garbage compared to Intel. Sad but true. Compatibility is a nightmare on AMD laptops. Just ask lenovo support :joy: They sell 99% Intel laptops yet support has 50/50 tickets :joy: AMD is cheaper for a reason

One German retailer alone got hundreds.

Gamers shouldn't buy fastest gaming CPU there is? Techspot is anti AMD like always. As predicted, since games rarely use more than 8 cores. So what? You need 16 cores, you buy 7950X3D.

7900X still has 4 cores more.
The GPU inside Ryzen 7000 is just as trash as Intels. Actually it's worse :joy: It took how many years for AMD to put an iGPU on their CPUs? Intel dominates iGPU x86 market completely anyway.
So what? AMD has APUs that has much better GPUs. Ryzen 7000 series GPU is good enough.

Like I said, Intel had serious problems before Covid because they trashed 10nm production and had to build more 14nm++++++++ factories. Enterprise customers have been *****s for decades, they rarely buy best products. That's reality.

Ryzen 1000 series took only 4.5 years to get into market. It was rushed design. Intel still cannot beat AMDs 4 year old Zen2 Epyc with similar node so no, AMD is ahead despite node advantage 🤦‍♂️

Enterprise buyers are *****s like I said. There is difference between better product and better selling product. Source for Lenovo tickets?

Yeah games don't really use more than 8 cores but 6 cores can sometimes be too little, especially paired with a high-end GPU, and this is why 7900X3D is pointless since it only has 2x6 cores and only 3D cache on one CCD. 7800X3D will be superior unless AMD gimps it hard. 8 full fat cores with 3d cache on all. This is what AMD should have done on all the cores on 7900X3D and 7950X3D, instead of gimping 2nd CCD.

Haha Techspot is not anti AMD. They just test stuff and tell the truth. Why do you fanboy on this site if you think they hate AMD? Denying the truth on your side has nothing to do with TS being anti AMD.

I could not care less, I use Intel, Nvidia and AMD, they all make some good stuff but also make some garbage that I avoid.

AMD APUs are a joke on desktop. Barely sell and they make no sense to buy. They are mostly going in dirt cheap OEM machines. You are better off buying a cheap dGPU and a proper CPU. A dGPU can be replaced when it gets too slow but it will also run in circles around the APU to begin with. APU is pointless for desktop use and only makes sense in custom solutions like consoles. However MS and Sony are the winners here, not AMD. Console hardware is cheap, the money comes from accesories and software sales, not the actual hardware and this is why Nvidia don't care about this market. Their tegra was not even supposed to be used in a console but Nintendo insisted. As a result, Nvidia makes more for every switch sold, than AMD makes form every PS or Xbox sold. Switch is closing in on 125 million units sold and will probably end up as one of the best selling consoles of all time.

Mindfactory is pro AMD which is why all AMD fanboys love them and buys from them. Their numbers don't reflect the market at all. Looking at steam hw survey reflects the market much better and Intel and Nvidia dominates.

AMD needs to release radeon 7800 series ASAP because 4070 Ti outsell 7900XT like 25 to 1 right now and 4070 is coming in a few weeks. 7900XT should have been priced at 699 dollars but AMD wanted 899 which is laughable, however it already dropped below 800 dollars now, still needs to be cheaper to be relevant. You know you priced a GPU wrong when flagship card has better performance per dollar LMAO (sadly AMD produces 90% 7900XTs...)

99% will not even consider AMD if they don't offer MUCH BETTER VALUE meaning lower prices than Nvidia across the board. AMD is the small player. Worse features. Worse support. Worse drivers. Worse compatibility. Worse focus from game dev's because of low marketshare. This is the truth for you. You can deny it, I don't really care.

You asked better integrated GPU and they say it sucks 🤦‍♂️

Nvidia cared about console market but FYI, check what happened with Microsoft and Xbox regarding Nvidia GPUs. So much about that interest. MS will never again use Nvidia.
Mindfactory is pro AMD which is why all AMD fanboys love them and buys from them. Their numbers don't reflect the market at all. Looking at steam hw survey reflects the market much better and Intel and Nvidia dominates.
Bwahaha. Online computer rerail store is pro AMD 🤦‍♂️

Mindfactory provides actual sales data for every unit sold. Feel free to prove them wrong.

Steam survey on other hand is unreliable and buggy as Hell. It does not eve publish real numbers, just percentages (of what?).

If you didn't notice, also Nvidia flagship card had better performance per dollar than card that is one level below. Again you blane AMD while Nvidia did exactly same.

Worse features like FSR that killed DLSS. Freesync is now dominand and nobody cares about G-sync monitors with fans etc etc. AMD drivers are good if you just don't believe every Nvidia troll there is. Your post is mostly fanboy nonsense with very little facts, sorry but thats truth.

Yes 7900X3D is pointless because it only has 6 cores on each CCD, meaning only 6 cores get 3d cache, when games uses more than 6 cores it will have to draw in non-3d cache cores and you will see gimped performance, meanwhile 7800X3D will have 8 cores with 3d cache and it will even be cheaper, this is why AMD delayed this one - it will be the gaming chip to buy for AM5 users. 7950X3D makes some sense, but not for gamers because price point is waste of money and it is also gimped with only 3d cache on 1 ccd. The money spent on this cpu over i7-13700K or 7800X3D are pretty much wasted instead of buying a faster GPU that will actually give you more performance.

A 16 core 32 thread cpu is not for gamers, if you think otherwise, you are 100% clueless about hardware. Zero games need more than 8 performance cores + HT/SMT. Most will run just fine with 6, for now.

Once again, it's easy to sell out few units worldwide. It does not make it a succes. Intel is selling way more chips than AMD currently (and have done since 12th gen release) + Intels margin is way bigger as well because of no middleman. TSMC rips off AMD.

Gsync did not die at all, it's still superior to Freesync because hw module means higher refreshrate among other stuff, this is why ultra high end monitors still uses Gsync module or offers a better version with the module, simply google it. A clueless AMD fanboy like you wants Nvidia to fail, but Nvidia is laughing all the way to the bank because AMD barely participate in PC GPU market anymore. FSR did not kill off DLSS either. DLSS is superior in pretty much every comparison. DLSS2 easily wins over FSR2 and AMD have no answer to DLSS3.

Ray Tracing, DLSS, Shadowplay, NvEnc and DLDSR is the reason why Nvidia cards outsells Radeon with ease these days. AMD can't match the features.

AMD have no answer to DLDSR and RTX genereally have tons of features that AMD tries to emitate, however fails.

Nvidia makes new features, AMD copies them, with mixed results. Pretty much every time, the AMD solution is worse.

AMD is cheaper for a reason. Worse drivers, worse support, worse features, worse raytracing. Yeah AMD drivers are sooo good, right now AMD drivers can corrupt your windows installation and 3D performance is destroyed in latest drivers as well, google radeon drivers performance bug if you want to read more. Time spy scores affected and halved.

AMD drivers are simply trash in generel because AMD don't have the money or manpower to make them good. AMD barely have 1/10 of Nvidia's software team.

Early access games tends to run like garbage on AMD GPUs as well. Pretty much all games will run good on a Nvidia card. Because game developers prioritize Nvidia performance on pc because they know that 90% will use a Nvidia card. It is that simple. Why spend time optimizing for AMD when 90% uses Nvidia. Logic 101.

AMD is doing worse than ever when it comes to GPU sales. Reality for you. Accept it. They need to reduce prices ALOT if they want to become relevant again.

Btw the reason why Microsoff won't use Nvidia again, is because Nvidia wants too much for their top tier stuff. AMD on the other hand, will gladly sell for peanuts. Nvidia cares about making money and there's zero money in console market for other than Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony.

I bet you are using low end AMD hardware and hates Intel and Nvidia because you can't afford high-end stuff :joy: Maybe if you got a job instead of whining on forums you could afford to buy proper hardware

Most Ryzen owners buy a Nvidia GPU, not an AMD GPU, wonder why... Starting to miss ATi because AMD is NOT doing well in terms of GPU market.

I bet that AMD and Intel will share a ~20% marketshare in a few years, and Nvidia will keep dominating with ~80%

This article is exactly the information I was looking for, so thanks for that, but the conclusion of it seems completely in contradiction with the results imo.
All those tests were done at 1080p the perf differential goes exponentially lower the more you increase resolution, and nobody has this kind of horsepower to play in full HD, so to me the conclusion of this article should really be that RAM speed is borderline irrelevant in video game performance unless you have a non X3D Ryzen CPU.
As always concerning RAM, going in pricy High End specs territory is useless and aiming at middle of the pack RAM is usually the good call.
