Why? It's one of the cheapest upgrades you can make for your current platform and if the chip ever goes out of stock again the prices will sky rocket on the second hand market, just like before. To get an upgrade if you even can't buy a 5800x3d you'd have to buy a new motherboard and RAM along with a new CPU.I'll stick to my AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, unless I find it dirty cheap.

I upgraded from a 5950x to a 9800x3d, since I had to replace the entire platform I have an extra motherboard, CPU and RAM I'm going to hand down to a good friend of mine. But instead of sending the 5950x I'm replacing it with a 5800x3d and sending it to my friend who is still on a 9900k. Should be a nice upgrade for him.
I wanted the X3D but decided it wasn't worth the money for my use case. To buy it from Amazon.com costs $419 from my country; locally, $436. I do play games but productivity is important. Instead, I bought the cheaper 5800XT to upgrade my Zen 2 APU.Cool story, I guess?
AM4 had excellent longevity, and going from a 1700X to a 5800X on the same board proves it. But the 5800X3D is also essentially the end of that platform’s upgrade path. That's why I would never take the Intel option mentioned in the article. I prefer to invest in a platform that will be supported in a longer period of time.

They do not do those types of benchmarks here.Can we get some benchmarks with a reasonably priced GPU? Like a 9070XT and 5070? I'm not sure there are many people out there who have a 5090 but can't afford an upgrade to AM5.

They thought its price will go down.This kind of performance for this price has been available since the original release of the 5800X3D. There was a two or three year period where you could get better performance for a little bit more in the 7700X and 9700X and get a modern platform. Why didn't people upgrade then if they thought this was a good price? If they were waiting for something better, then they should keep waiting.

Huh? That is the problem with the 5800 x3d. It has no upgrade path at all. If you price it out, an AM5 9600x system only costs about a couple hundred more, with a great upgrade path.
