Apple could become world's first trillion dollar company

All the benefits that all the fanboys are talking about here come from that very fact. CONTROL. By controlling everything that is in your computer and put onto your computer Apple guarantees a user experience within a certain set of parameters that they deem acceptable. That is the whole 'just works' paradigm summed up into a sentence. And it works for most people, hence the trillion dollar value.

Isn't that what all IT businesses are based upon?

If Apple sold their OS to other distributors so that you could install it on a Computer regardless of it being a Mac or not, It would be great. But that would mean less money for Apple (theory) but on other hand, it would increase its OS marketshare by few %s.

That would never work. Apple's "quality" comes from the fact that they have ONE hardware combination for which they need to code for. You're not going to come up with some Mac hardware combination that they don't let you have. They control all the hardware they put into it, so that you don't end up with too many conflicts. They also (try) to control all the software you load onto the computer, for the same reason.

Ah true, maybe in future it could change. But yeah you are correct.

I used and work on Tech gears everyday. I'm a Tech geek and love being one. But I don't like everyone have the same thing like me. Yes, you can't completely have that only unique Tech gears in the real world, unless you super rich or can create yourself one, but I love choice too. Imagine every other guys drive the same color and brand car, the same exactly clothes you wear, or have the same constructed house. Pretty boring to me. I love choice and for that I love Google Android products and with it great Modding community you can't beat. It not perfect, but in my eye it a sacrifice for openness and freedom. The possible are endless.

Then apple shuts down and gives all the money to the gov to waste... BINGO

1 Trillion would be nothing. By the time Apple his 1 Trillion, US gov will be 20 trillion in debt (it's 15 trillion right now). I am sure Apple would just expand beyond our imaginations! :p

I don't know, all and I mean all macs at our College (graphics college) are extremely slow and they are only what 3 years old? So that can't be applied to everything.

As I have said, the Laptop market is good and as you say competitive prices. But sadly the desktop market is never going to compare to a custom built PC. Now when you compare it to the average pre-built PCs, alot of them are terrible but most people don't know where to look so they compare the £1K Macs to those crappy Desktop PCs.

I tried to include that little caveat in my original post. When I say reliable, I mean they aren't nearly as problematic as Windows-based machines. The problem with Macs is that when it comes to raw performance they leave a lot to be desired. I'm not surprised that the machines at your college run slow, as they would have been taken to the cleaners ordering a bundle of Macs with respectable specs. I run into the same issue with my 2010 MBP. When I multitask work & school, without fail, I wind up maxing out all of my memory & page file because they capped these things at 8gigs. Games are also an issue with the 320M chip they have in this thing. Considering the cost of the computer, it is very frustrating. But I'd rather deal with memory slow ups than the hassle of Windows. Put up with that for 8+ years, no more! lol

I agree with everything you've said, though.

True that. So for most people it really comes down to the OS which majority of Apples userbase prefers. I know as someone said earlier, if Apple allowed you to custom build the machine with your chosen hardware, it would start running into many issues.... but it would be cool if the option was there for "enthusiasts" to use.

I am not a hardcore Apple hater, but the operating systems whether iOS or OSX are simply great. Of course that is just an opinion. I hate though when Apple fanbase just bashes "PCs" or rather Windows Based machines without knowing what they are talking about.

I use Windows 7 and since XP I could not be more happy, this is the best Microsoft OS to date. Iv run into few issues but nothing major to set me of. I do have slowdowns at times, but that is due to running a mediocore system.

It really comes down to whether you enjoy to build your own system or have a pre-built system (a mac) that is "reliable". Both systems are good and both systems have plenty of space for improvements.

Though many prebuilt Desktop systems out there suck, or at least what majority of people get because there are places where you can get solid system but already built for you, without having all the crapware loaded onto it. So hence why those people who buy crappy overpriced system run into ''horrendous issues'' and then turn to Apple and get a MAC.

Also regarding crapware being loaded onto many Windows machines down the PC shops, well that is how they drive more income, its not Microsofts fault (maybe it is, I am sure they could make some sort of TOS to prevent that).

With a custom built system is a whole lot different story. While there are driver issues at times, that is due to the given nature of mixing up different setups. Macs don't run into that problem because, well as someone already pointed out they are very limited with what hardware you can use and Apple make sures that it is all compatible etc...

Use what you like, don't bash either of the OSs or fanbase. Both sides have *****s who know nothing what they talk about (including me, I am not tech expert, I know my way though).

Personal point of view. If I was going to get desktop it would be deffo a custom put together system.

If I was going to get a laptop, depending what my needs would be, it would either be a MBP or MBA and then have dual boot Windows when needed.

A good tech savy person knows all the "main" Operating Systems and does not bash one mindlessly, but with constructive criticism.

PS:

''they just work''
''they run windows better then pcs''

eek >.<

Worldwide stupidity and the sin called vanity is the ONLY reason for their popularity.

The world will be a better place without them.

This only goes to prove beyond dispute, "Crank-Steins" theory of general relativity.

Which states, "the IQ of the mob is equal to the square root of the IQ of its least intelligent member"......

You can substitute, "entire Apple fan base", for the coefficient, "mob", without altering the results one iota.

Apple should just take over the world already. We'll see people running around with RPGs and assault rifles with an apple logo on the side.

An "Apple RPG" is completely contradictory to Apple's business model. It's a one shot deal. Accordingly, they wouldn't be able to soak you for "Apple Care", The App Store, or iTunes. Plus, you'd still be able to buy "Coby" RPG at 1/4 the price. Oh sure, you might have to shoot four of them to have one go off, but people will still think they're saving money.
