Apple has patched 15 vulnerabilities in its QuickTime media player. So far this year, the company has issued four QuickTime security updates, patching a total of 34 security bugs.

Two of the 15 flaws only affect QuickTime on Windows while the remaining 13 apply to both Windows and Mac OS. QuickTime 7.6.9 is now available for download via our QuickTime entry for Mac OS X v10.5.8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP SP2, or later. Mac users can upgrade to QuickTime 7.6.9 using the operating system's built-in Software Update feature while Windows users use the optional Windows update tool.

14 of the 15 flaws were rated critical, which according to Apple means they "may lead to arbitrary code execution." Unlike other major software companies that issue security patches (such as Google, Microsoft, and Oracle), Apple does not assign threat levels to the vulnerabilities it patches. The company does, however, provide a basic rundown of all the issues that were patched over on support.apple.com.

QT still exists? Damn... What a piece of rubbish. I've always hated that software and its poorly compressed video codec. While Adobe Flash has some issues, i'm glad it has mostly killed QT videos from the web.

Seriously Apple... just give up already. Make something else...
