Apple unveils iPhone X, its most expensive smartphone ever

I was going to post something to attract a lot of likes here, but then realized it would take huge amounts of loathing, sarcasm and defecation, and as it turns out - I'm fresh out. Bad timing, Apple!

I just saw it and out of all bezeless phones this one takes the crown as the ugliest. Also you have 10 different swipes because no home button and that thing covering your screen is an abomination. They had to move clock to the left side. I am trying to be unbiased here, lol.

So, to sum it up, the "iconic" new iphone, is nothing more than last years model, with racing stripes, and a HIGHER price.
Save evolutionary/revolutionary improvement as per usual then? :)
And wireless charging... not like its something I've had for the past 6+ years. But then again, if people keep buying it, why would you do anything different?

True. The fact that people will buy literally anything is absolutely amazing to me. It's like there is something in our brains that these companies know about and know how to exploit, you know like those ads on porn sites. :)

Chances are the smug, euphoric character of peoples' face ID photos when they buy the phone will be unrecognizable several weeks later when they realize they've been bamboozled and are rendered hapless to express anything other than the expression of someone who over-paid for an under-performing prostitute in an uppity part of town.

TL;DR: It's Apple. You expect a $1,000 iPhone to work correctly out of the box?
Nothing is absolutely foolproof and everything can be hacked but that statement was pretty counter intuitive. Anyway, (almost) anybody who deliberately swipes your device isn't in the least bit interested in your data, they just want it to try make a fast buck and offload it as quickly as they can.

I think FaceID is a stupid idea for anyone who actually uses these phones/ipads on public transport

When I am on the bus into work everyday... and try to log into my iPad Air...
I have to type my 4 digit code in and everyone beside and behind me to see the code go in...

whereas my iPhone 5S I just put my finger on and it unlocks... much more secure for public transport

But with FaceID, I (and everyone behind me) don't want to have to look at my stupid face on a huge iPad screen every time I want to unlock the iPad/iPhone on the bus!!!

I am still waiting on transparent technology. Still nothing release on that we get the same old look again an again.. My ZTE ZMAX Pro looks like this iPhone X. 8-core max XSD is 256GB

Apple somehow has the crazy ability to get users to buy products at any price. Apple fans will fork over whatever it takes so Apple has no reason to keep prices down. That's why it's stupid expensive. It's not better, just more expensive. Darwinism if you ask me. I'll stick to Android.

Moore's Law says over time, prices should fall. Until the market saturates, Demand is whatever the community is willing to pay. Apple may well hit the ceiling on this one, and fail just like the Ford Edsel did in the late '50s - - people will SAY they want features - - up to the point where it's time to write the check and then the ceiling falls in on the marketing department.

jobeard Are you serious, you think the Edsel was a Ford? <Laughing> Edsel Ford was not related to the Henry Ford's or Ford Motor company. Thanks for the laugh!!!

I can't tell if you're joking, sarcastic, or just that uninformed.
-- Edsel Bryant Ford (born 1893), was the son of Henry & Clara Ford (his grandson, Edsel Bryan Ford II, is currently on Ford Motor Company's board of directors), named after a friend of his father's...& was the namesake for the Edsel automobile.
-- Edsel Ford (born 1928), was an unrelated poet born in Arkansas & named after the doctor who delivered him. Can't say I've ever heard of him before, though.

I could care less about any face scanning features intruding in the privacy of others.

Well, here's the family tree, and yes the "The Edsel's most memorable design feature was its trademark "horsecollar" or "toilet seat" grille, which was quite distinct from other cars of the period. According to a popular joke at the time, the Edsel "resembled an Oldsmobile sucking a lemon","

Intel must not have been informed about this. Moores Law has nothing to do with pricing. Yes, as manufacturing processes impove so do yields, and products become cheaper. Moorse Law doesn't state that ever though.
It's called deductive reasoning, a consequence of the forgoing statement.
E=MC^2 derives an energy number, E/C^2 derives a Mass number.

This example is fine and dandy, your stretching it a bit with Moore's Law. Energy and Mass are related, Moore's Law, and economics aren't.

However, this is not an important argument. May we just agree to disagree? ;)

PS: my whole problem with the entire thing is that in your original post you used the word " states ". Had you of said " you can derive from Moore's Law " or something of that nature I would have been fine. I would have asked " How?" and would have accepted your explanation, but Moore's Law does not "state" what you said it does.

1 in a million chance with 7.5 billion people on the planet. so 7.5% chance someone could unlock your phone if I did my math correctly.
A gold star for you and you go straight to the top of the class. As for me... I was trying to hire a super computer to solve the same arithmetical problem, I get to sit in the corner wear the dunce cap. :D

A one in a million chance of someone else unlocking your phone with face ID, but secure it with a passcode nonetheless??? What am I missing here???

Ouch.. When planet will carry 100B people that chance will rise to 100%!! :)
