Asus spash screen the blank

Hello my little brother was recently on stumble and a anti virus automatically downloaded on his comp and destroyed it. When i start it up i can get to the ASUS splash screen and then it just goes to a black screen. I have already taken all his school files off the harddrives with a docking hub for usb. on a diff comp. Now im trying to reformat his computer and get it working again butttttt i changed the boot priority to the cd/dvd to load the ASUS recovery DVD and that works fine then i put in the driver dvd like it asks and it all goes well. but then its back to the notorious black screen with the blinkin _ i have tried swapping back the boot priority to the harddrive like it is supposed to be but still to no prevail the same black screen... any ideas?
