ATA 3.0 run at 1.5?

  1. If my motherboard only supports 1.5 SATA can I buy a 3.0 drive and it work at the slower speed?

    Yes, it will. ATA and SATA are always (I believe) designed to be backward compatible.

    Haha, I hardly consider myself to be "knowledgeable", especially considering the fact that I have to load my posts full of a**-coverage like "I believe" :D. I'm just pretty sure there were strict ATA guidelines that kept it backward compatible, so, I assume it's the same deal with the SATA interface.
