AutoPlay (Win 8)

An app, when launched, is changing my AutoPlay preferences to "Take No Action."
Its maker can offer no assistance.

Is there a hack that will "lock in" my choices by making AutoPlay, in essence, READ ONLY?

Forums and articles give hints on how to en/disable AP, but none addresses the issue here.

Sounds like one of many security apps, which disable the Autoplay option, so that malware can't launch so easily from removable media. You would need to identify the app/program and uninstall it, if you're sure you don't like it (I don't think you can "lock down" the Autoplay, if you could it would be in endless turmoil fighting the app!).

No, it's commercial, useful, burning software that one would think should not be messing with AutoPlay.

Looking back at its earlier incarnations, the app has been doing this for many years - likely undiscovered by most, including the programmers.

Thanks for checking in.
