Blue screen after upgrading RAM

Hello,

I have been experiencing some problems after installing some additonal ram in to my laptop. My laptop is C60-305ea Compaq. It was installed with 1gb when I bought it. But I decided to upgrade it with 2gb. So I would have 3gb.

The ram I added - SODIMM DDR2 PC2-6400

But when using my laptop (sometimes within 5-15mins) a blue screen comes up saying something about a memory dump error. It is so fast I can hardsly make out any info on it.

Please help me ASAP!

Certain memory is not always going to "play nice" if you will with just any other chip of memory, hence why they are sold in kits when buying brand new.

What I would do is take out the original chip and see if the system becomes stable. If the blue screens were not occurring before you performed the upgrade, then clearly the two chips aren't coinciding with one another correctly.

If you find that the system becomes stable after removing the chip, you could always buy another 2GB chip if you want the extra memory, or my preference which would be to just run with 2GB.

Hope this helps.
