Borderlands 4 Optimization: Improving a Big Mess

A polished turd is still a turd.

Basically what Gearbox has been saying before Randy even started to throw a temper tantrum about complaints from gamers; drop settings to medium range, enable DLSS/FSR so you get playable performance..... sounds awful.

Thanks for substantiating their claims on how to get the game to run better, I guess.

Some were claiming including Moore'slawisdead that it runs better on the ps, now we are learning it has a memory leak. The longer you play the worse the performance gets. The solution is break your immersion and restart the game. 🤡🤡🤡
Update Tom said if subjectively believe that Borderlands 3 at maximum settings looks better than Borderlands 4 at similar performance you need better glasses. You decide.

Does this game allow you to change the UE5 config file like some other? I tried making changes in early access game, but they had them locked down. I develop an FPS Optimizer for WoW, and adjust the console variables and it makes a huge difference. Wondering if the same can be done hear by modify the UE5 config file.

The people are dumb. The SAME person that brought us the "GEM" called Alien: Colonial Marines is now bringing us THIS.
NO WAY will I pay for this p.o.s.
Fool me once? You know..

A really wonder if while optimization is a concern, it's also due to differences between UE4 & UE5. As the video godrilla linked showed UE4 produced the same or better FPS and visuals in BL3. Maybe the developers simply didn't understand how to utilize UE5 to it's best performance.

So is it their fault or did Epic simply leave them to their own devices with little to no direction or support where UE5 was concerned. I'm starting to think all Epic cares about is releasing "wow" demos highlighting next gen features and not following up with helping developers to make the best of the engine/s.

I guess that's what you get when you dominate the market.

Unreal is not helping devs if they don't help themselves. To be honest if some things were prepared in a wrong way ...it might be that you need to redo all the assets of the game. Which could go into the millions in cost. Even worse is the fact that 6090 will not be 50% faster ...we are going to see more moderate improvements.

The way Randy Pitchford insulted all players intelligence by telling everyone to just upgrade their pc's, or just use visual trickery to get playable framerate rather than playing at native resolutions, is enough reason for me to keep my money and wait to see if they turn this ship around. I won't even have to ask steam for a refund. Thanks for the advice Randy.

This is awful. Just 2 points as it's a good review (thank you) and speaks for itself.

1. Randy Pitchford is clearly aware of the short comings by making such a defensive and out right insulting comment about the whole thing. Not that it bothers me. Its' expected from him.

2. The volumetic cloud setting if off looks so bad even in a still image, without clicking on it to enlarge that the game is trash visually without it. Incredibly bad. I've never seen such a massive difference from a still image.

While this is a top notch graphics settings guide/review, on that one point I disagree. The game is a washed out mess with it off.

This is all bad, and Pitchfords defensivness makes it a no buy. No way.

Not worth the effort and time to play this rubbish. Especially when even the CEO mocked the buyers.

Thankfully I didn't buy it. I don't think I will play it even when Epic gives it for free. (But will add it to my free library, though.)

At least on this forum there is warranted negativity for all the reasons already mentioned.

I doubt they will get many, if any sales from Techspoters!!

I love watching your $1000 GPUs get rick rolled 😄.
Expect similar results in the next few years as games push more visual boundaries.
The Dark Ages is tough at 1440p/4K too.

Performance on Borderlands 4 is phenomenal as long as you don't have a donkey for a rig and/or know how to properly maintain your rig. I get 160+ on Badass settings @ 1440p on my 5070ti, and the game is AMAZING.

With upscaling and 3 to 4 x frame gen tell us more.
