Borderlands spin-off Tiny Tina's Wonderlands gets its first trailer

What just happened? Last week brought rumors of four unannounced games from 2K Games, including a Borderlands spinoff featuring Tiny Tina called Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. Surely enough, Gearbox confirmed the upcoming title during the Summer Game Fest Kickoff livestream yesterday, and it came with a few surprises.

While sharing the same graphical style and gameplay, Wonderlands has more of a Dungeons and Dragons fantasy theme than the sci-fi setting we're used to in Borderlands, though there are still plenty of guns. It features a campaign with co-op support for up to four players and the ability to create and customize unique characters across multiple classes.

Players must defeat the Dragon Lord, encountering strange folk along the way that include a lute-wielding Bardbarian and the "Fairy Punchfather." Gearbox also promises "repeatable end-game content."

Some big stars are lending their names to Wonderlands: Andy Samberg, best known these days for his role as detective Jake Peralta in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, takes on the part of Captain Valentine; actress and stand-up Wanda Sykes plays a rule-following robot named Frette; and Will Arnett of Arrested Development/ BoJack Horseman (and much more) fame will voice the Dragon Lord.

"For me, bringing actual Borderlands guns to fight dragons, skeletons, goblins, and more in an original fantasy world imagined by the galaxy's deadliest 13-year-old, Tiny Tina, as a new, full-featured triple-A videogame is a dream come true," said Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is set to launch in early 2022, and will be available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. It's also coming to Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4.

The other rumored 2K Games titles include a very compelling sounding "XCOM with Marvel heroes" project codenamed CODA, which several journalists have confirmed is real.

I thought Tina was one of the most annoying and worst characters out of Borderlands 2. I absolutely hated her, her shrill voice and horribly forced dribble that she spouted out while trying to come off as tough.....or the lewd sexual innuendos.....

Couldn't of said it better myself. Every-time she spoke it was time to button mash to skip the dialogue as quickly as possible or muting the game. I thought they couldn't possibly make a more annoying character in the series, then the latest games came out with not one but two incredibly annoying characters, the Calypso Twins! They just spewed constant garbage which didn't add to the game in anyway, I have zero interest in re-playing the game after beating it because it would mean having to listen to them.
