I tried to put my computer into standby the other night, that worked fine, however when i came to resume from standby by pressing the power button, i heard all the internal fans, hard drive etc turn on, but my USB keyboard and mouse both remained off, along with my monitor.

I've got a DFI Lanparty nF4 UT SLI-D

In the bios i've set it up for ACPI support (think thats right?)
i'd prefer to use S3 STR rather than the S1 POS because i leave my system for long amounts of time and the fans annoy me when i've put it into S1.
Also i've got the latest bios.

thanks in advance

Try shutting off any Bios settings that refer to system power down, it is best if there is a setting that 'allow O/S to control' .Then just use windows power settings. They usally work the best.
