Computer using dedicated graphics instead of graphics card

So these forums were educational and helpful to me since I'm fairly new to the whole building your own computer world. However they didn't ultimately resolve my issue so I wanted to do my part and share what I did (although it was the simplest solution ever and I feel like an ***** for not realizing what was wrong). So for anyone who is new to this stuff like me and doesn't realize what's wrong I'm posting this.

MAKE SURE YOUR HMDI CABLE IS PLUGGED INTO THE GRAPHICS CARD NOT THE MOTHERBOARD.

It took me 3 hours and taking the whole computer apart and resetting the cmos to realize a cord was plugged into the wrong port.
I had at one point disabled the integrated graphics, which is a common issue on forums, and this was also solved when I switched the HDMI cable to the graphics card port.
I realize how obvious this solution should have been but sometimes we look for the complicated solutions first, so maybe this will save someone some headache.
