Concern I have malware / virus

  1. Hi,

    Kids tell me we probably have a virus. I can't see a specific problem other than the computer is slow and web browser crashes gets hung up.

    Wondering if you can walk me through the scan process?

    David, if you still have this program installed: FinalTorrent 2011 please uninstall it. I suspect this is the source of the continued infections.

    When you have uninstalled it: Use Windows Explorer (Right click on Start> Explore) to access Computer> Local Drive (C)> Programs> look for the program folder for FinalTorrent 2011> Do a right click Delete.

    I will also be recommending additional security. McAfee VirusScan Enterprise fives you an AV, a Firewall and a antispyware program. I will offer suggestions for at least 2 more antimalware programs.
    Let's take the current problem:
    1. Why do the kids tell you there is probably malware?
    2. Is system slow to load? Slow to surf? Slow to shut down?
    3. Please explain what is happening to the browser:
    Do you get any message when it crashes?
    What do you mean "hung up"?
    You went through this last time you were so, so you should know your way around:

    • File sharing programs should be uninstalled or disabled during the cleaning process..

      [o] Don't use a Registry cleaner or make any changes in the Registry.
      [o] Don't download and install new programs- except those I give you.
