Connecting 2 SATA drives

Hi,
I have 2 SATA Hard drives. In one of my Hard drive, boot sector went bad. So I will not be able to boot into my laptop using that hard drive. I removed the HD and tried to put it in my desktop to try and recover some data from the bad HD.
But whenever I try to start the desktop it does not finish loading into windows (which was happening on the laptop).
So how do I force it to load through my working HD?
I know there is no slave/master in Sata but whatever I do the computer keeps trying to load to the broken windows version
Both hars drives have windows 7 on them.

So to recap

2 HD with windows 7
1 is defective the other working
Trying to connect the bad sectors HD to recover my data.

P.S. both HD ahow up in the boot menu

Thanks in advance.

The Win7 from old laptop HDD is customized for laptop. You need to boot from desktop HDD which is customized to that system. This means you need to know which is which and to set the desktop one earlier in the boot order than the other. This is set in your "BIOS" (which is UEFI settings for UEFI machines).

See: https://www.computerhope.com/jargon/b/bootsequ.htm

Consult manual for motherboard in the desktop for details.

Hi and thanks for the fast reply.

There no place to choose which HD first...
Only
