Connection on computer gets "little to no connectivity" after pc reboots

I have 2 computers hooked up through a dlink router on shaw internet. When we turn one of the computers off and back on again (this problem just started happening yesterday) it has little to no connectivity and shows no IP address. However, the other pc's connection works fine. We got it back up and running once by messing around with unplugging power from modem/dlink and resetting things but now nothing seems to work. Anyone have any ideas? Your help is appreciated.

Just wait a bit until the computer manages to obtain an IP address perhaps?

What happens if you set the IP address, gateway and DNS manually?
