Corsair today introduced a new range of solid-state drives based on a new controller by Link a Media Devices (LAMD). The controller in question is known as LM87800 and will be exclusive to Corsair drives, featuring SATA III (6Gbps) support, error correction and wear leveling technologies, as well as advanced NAND management techniques to improve the endurance of onboard flash memory.

Corsair's new SSDs come in two flavors, both featuring a 2.5-inch form factor and slender 7mm height: the Neutron and Neutron GTX. The former uses ONFi NAND and comes in 120GB or 240GB capacities, while the latter is based on Toggle NAND and will be available in capacities of 120GB, 240GB and 480GB.

Performance-wise the drives differ mainly when it comes to write speeds. The GTX promises up to 90,000 random read and write 4K IOPS, with up to 555MB/s sequential read speeds and up to 500MB/s write speeds. The standard Neutron series, on the other hand, offers up to 90,000 random read IOPS and up to 85,000 random write IOPS, with up to 555MB/s sequential read speeds and up to 370MB/s write speeds.

Corsair is backing the Neutron and Neutro GTX with a five year standard warranty, which is increasingly rare for SSDs nowadays. Pricing details are still under wraps but availability is set for July.
