Damm usb drive

Hi guys, Wondering whether you can help me just bought a 16 gb usb flash drive off e-bay {probably not a good move} Anyway put it in my computer @ home, computer sees new drive and then installed driver, but when i click on drive it reads[ please insert disk to drive ] it wont let me format it and the properties are showing no storage capacity. It seems to think that it is a dvd or cd drive device! Took it to work and the same result, tried downloading latest usb 2 driver still nothing any ideas?????? cheers :AJ

Have you tried formatting it from disk management? If not. Start button, run, type diskmgmt.

You brought it off the ebay? Have you read the warning?

Thanks for that but those disks were for cameras etc mine is a 16 gig usb 2 flash drive, Im running windows vista basic maybe vista does'nt like that brand of disk?

Tried that but windows vista cant find disk management anywhere.
Any other suggestions?

Yep done that on 2 different machines @ work my other flash drives work ok

AJ, report that item to ebay for non-functioning unit.

And you probably get the refund or a indentical item.
