DDR5 Prices Are Broken, So We Tested Cheaper Chinese RAM

If the memory makers thought that the AI/data center bubble was not going to pop then they would be building out new production capacity for it. Having the capacity to produce RAM for AI/data centres and consumers would make them far more money than just catering to one group at the expense of the other.

For what it is worth, why was the Chinese DDR5 not tested with some memory dependent productivity benchmarks like PassMark, Geekbench, Blender, or Cinebench? Some of us do want to use our PCs for more than just gaming and it would be nice to know if this Chinese DDR5 was good enough for that purpose.

And across platforms. It ain't no good if it won't POST or bluesceens at boot. lmao

Exactly what I built 4 years ago, I tried to future-proof and it's worked brilliantly. I have no desire to upgrade and I may be dead before I need to at my age. lol

In 2036 I'll be retired.

The way I see it, computers will probably be prebuilt laptops and deskops with systems entirely on chip. CPU, GPU, RAM, Wifi, SSD, etc.

Computers may be smartglasses by then.

Bottom line: I'm not playing their games. Nvidia could put an end to the scalping just like Apple did, but they want things like this. I'll just wait them out.

Since this article dropped Chinese memory rices have skyrocketed, there is no cheaper Chinese RAM now; they wanted to cash in on the AI ponzi scheme and gouge us plebs too.

I got Corsair Dominator 6000 CL36 2x48GB for only $900 two weeks ago in Australia, so pretty happy, as some shops wanted $2000, one even wanted $3400. Good to see for even CL36 makes almost no difference to gaming performance t 1440p or higher on 9700X. v-cache makes timing largely irrelevant, so 9800X3D performance varies very little with latency.

I bought 96gb’s of Dominator Titanium DDR5 6600 for $300 last summer. It was the max amount I could use with an Asus B850-I and it was cheap. It was probably the best decision I’ve made in years.

Yeah 50 bucks less for a kit of unknown brand name with no reliability record vs 50 bucks more for a known good reliable brand name yeah I'm just going to spend 50 bucks more
