Dell P2 upgrade to P3.

I guess I am wasting page space but here goes.

Have an old dell p2 450mhz MB(slot 1). I wanted to upgrade the cpu to P3 slot one but on boot up there is a screen saying that this MB doesn't support P3.

Is there any way to circumvent this, ie bios, or is it totally unfeasible.

i don't want to go down the socket adapter route as I don't want to spend too much money.

Check Dells website and see if there is a BIOS update for your motherboard. Dell uses custom motherboards and yours is either clock locked or just wont run with a PIII. The only other alternative is to get a Dell PIII motherboard.

sorry I should have mentioned it is running the updated bios.
anyway I guess it won't do it so I won't bother.
