Deus Ex: Mankind Divided's system requirements aren't too punishing

  1. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is one of August's most anticipated games, after delays pushed it back from its original launch date in February. For the PC gamers out there, Eidos Montréal has unveiled the system requirements for the title, and it's good news for people with fairly common gaming hardware.

The biggest news here is that the recommended requirements only call for an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon RX 480. The GTX 970 is the most popular graphics card, according to Steam's hardware survey, while the RX 480 is the best value card on the market right now. It's good to see that Mankind Divided won't require a more powerful GPU to run on decent quality settings.

    Recommended Minimum
CPU Intel Core i7-3770K Intel Core i3-2100
    GPU NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
    AMD Radeon RX 480
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
    AMD Radeon HD 7870
    RAM 16 GB 8 GB
    OS Windows 10 (64-bit) Windows 7 SP1 (64-bit)
    Storage 55 GB 45 GB

Eidos hasn't specified exactly what quality settings they used to form these system requirements, and judging by what we've seen of the game so far in trailers and screenshots, it could take a high-end GPU to run this game on maximum quality settings at high resolutions. We'll just have to wait and see what the game has in store for us in a few weeks.

You'll also notice there is a discrepancy between the minimum and recommended storage amounts. Eidos says that the extra 10 GB added to the recommended requirements are for future DLC packs, which includes basic in-game items and narrative expansions.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be available worldwide on August 23, 2016. The game will be coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 alongside the PC on the same date.

I'm not sure why developers keep adding an i7 as the recommended CPU when hyperthreading is almost never utilised.
