I am having a issue with Dr. Watson debugger popping up in XP and freezing my system. I go to Task manager and stop the process, and I can use Computer again, but it will invariably pop up again later. Any ideas on how to correct the problem?

Dr Watson doesn`t cause crashes,it just offers to help determine the

cause of a crash that has just occured. It`s useless. You can disable it.

Possible causes of a crash -

1.A device driver.

2.Spyware,

3.A faulty right click menu extension.

4.The presence of .AVI video files on your system.

First thing I would suggest is to got to msconfig/Startup and uncheck everthing

except Firewall/AV.

Check the running processes in the Task Manager, see if there are any likely suspects.

I use AVG anti virus and Xsoft spy for spyware. Recent scans with both show no infections or hazards. I will check my task manager processes next time it pops up. Thank you
Will advise when it happens again.

You can disable Dr Watson like THIS

Did try looking in msconfig start up ?

Sometimes things like printer drivers or other hardware drivers can cause occasional freezes like that.

You need to use other anti-spyware programs besides X-soft and AVG(anti virus),to fully check your system.

Ewido,Spyware blaster,Trend micro,and Kaspersky`s online scans,
