Dual server on a yacht-storage trouble

We have 2 of these installed

We need 3 to 4 terra bites of raw video sataII storage for a one year voyage.
Trying to find a storage solution of 500gb western digital sata drives.
I've looked at the 1U racks but they all have raid controllers and extra's.
We've thought about standard external drives usb 2.0 or firewire.

Can any one think of something I haven't?

Just buy the enclosure(s) and the drives separate?

If you don't need all the drives attached simultaneously, then you could do with just two enclosures and swap the drives inside when needed.

Single drive USB enclosures are commonplace and you can even get 8-drive SATA enclosures: http://www.pc-pitstop.com/sata_enclosures/

We have just ordered 10 x 500gb drives, on order.
The enclosures are the factor now. Room is a premium small 1U rack.
I wouldn't mind if it were single drive, they could shutdown and replace
drives as needed.
