i have windows xp. i have used my dvd burner on my computer for over two years now. occationaly i would have to restart my pc to get it working, but this time it has been days. so i looked and it is showing a code 10. i uninstalled and reinstalled but still have the same problem. any suggestions as to what to do next??

If using Nero 7 or 8, and Windows VISTA
Remove both the UpperFilters and LowerFilters
Even with Windows XP, removing both filters and rebooting can get it working.
On other Nero, Roxio, and Record now, go to the software website to download and install the latest burner software drivers (the process will delete the old version) be sure you have your software serial number handy before you do this, or it won't install at all.

On others, you may have to install the firmware for the drive from the manufacturers website,

On others totally removing Nero, Roxio, or Record now, and editing out all references using RegClean by Juoni Viourno from www.majorgeeks.com.
Then reboot, and reinstall your burner software.

Also, doing a Gurgle search for DVD Code 10 will get you other suggestions.
