DVD burner install first time

I am replacing an original dvd burner on my Compaq Presario with a LG 22X internal DVD burner. The LG burner came with wires, but they are different than the existing wide cables. I've searched the web and know about the wide cable, slave, master but the back of the LG burner is different.

You probably bought a SATA (Serial ATA) optical drive instead of an IDE or PATA (Parallel ATA) optical drive. The connections are different and are not compatible. If your motherboard has SATA controllers, you should be able to use the SATA drive. If not, you should return and exchange it for an IDE model.
