Elon Musk says SpaceXAI will become SpaceXSI as Trump pushes to use "Super Intelligence" over AI

WTF?! Elon Musk says he will rename SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI following President Trump's executive order to start using the term Super Intelligence, or SI, instead of artificial intelligence. Musk seems to be following in the footsteps of fellow CEO Mark Zuckerberg, though the Facebook boss – who changed his company's name a few years ago to reflect a technology he liked at the time – has yet to announce that Meta AI is now Meta SI.

Musk revealed his decision on his X platform. After posting "No more AI" and that SI was better, a user asked about the possibility of SpaceXAI becoming SpaceXSI. "Yes, we will make that change," he replied.

This all stems from Trump reiterating his previous call to rename artificial intelligence Super Intelligence at last week's tech summit. His executive order instructed US government departments and agencies to start using the term when referring to the technology. The order said SI will take the place of AI in "official correspondence," websites, reports and other forms of communication. Trump previously said the word "artificial" made the technology sound "fake."

As a reminder, SpaceX acquired xAI in February. Musk then rebranded xAI as Space XAI in July, so changing it again to SpaceXSI could confuse a lot of people.

At the time of writing, SpaceXAI hasn't changed its name on the company's website or official X account. This certainly wouldn't be the first time that Musk has said he'd do something that never came to pass, like having a cage fight with Mark Zuckerberg.

Speaking of Zuckerberg, he's also said to have started saying super intelligence instead of artificial intelligence. Again, that must be a bit confusing when he talks a lot about superintelligence, an AI (or SI) that greatly exceeds human cognitive performance across virtually every domain.

Zuckerberg, of course, changed Facebook's corporate name to Meta several years ago as he was so convinced that the metaverse would be the future of humanity and technology. Not one of his best predictions, that one.

Beyond those two billionaires – and the government agencies that have to use it – we're not seeing a lot of people using the term super intelligence rather than artificial intelligence. It's hard to imagine that will change, either.

You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig.

To be honest, it's the same thing the other way around also when it comes to humans, you can put a dress on a man but its still a man. The ideology of becoming a man just because you feel like it doesn't exclude the fact that your biological makeup (like a pig), still makes you a man no matter what.

Terrible name. Tbh it should just stay SpaceX. Then in branding, they can use the X to denote crossroads/collaboration of two concepts. Space x intelligence, space x compute, space x internet, and space x defense.

Everything SpaceX is doing is leading toward using transport to outer space to provide a service, and that’s the rationale behind this. First SpaceX just had launches, which they sold to anyone and the name SpaceX especially applies to. Then they had satellite internet which they built themselves. Then they replicated that specifically for defense purposes (Starshield). They have intelligence as a service from xAI (Grok and Grokipedia) which they seemingly plan to provide from space. And for compute, they plan to build their own chips and build data centers for space, essentially orbital cloud compute.

Each of these businesses are successful now, but there’s two problems with this. The first problem is neither compute nor AI is in space now. Many have doubted their viability in space, and it remains to be seen if a drastic reduction in launch cost can make the overhead more worthwhile than terrestrial compute’s overhead. The other problem is X doesn’t really fit perfectly here (unless they planned to operate it in space, which is unlikely). That said, X is in the name SpaceX, their slogan is that X is going to be the everything app where X represents a variable. X = social, X = news, X = payments, X = video, X = messaging. There is also X being the crossroads itself, which has always been described as the town square/public forum.

SpaceXBanruptcy perhaps

Well you know the phrase SI doesn't describe any of these morons
All added up together there IQ would be in the sub zero category
All these heads and not a single uncorrupted brain amongst them
