Entire school board resigns following parent-mocking Zoom broadcast

You really have no idea how many "religious" parents willingly choose to home school in the US, especially in the south, do you?? You'd think "segregation" is the law of the land, again.
And it should be outlawed. Home schooling is the last bastion of the nutters.

Republican's MO in the US:

Defund public schools, then complain about "lousy public schools"

Divert money from public schools to religious schools (but only if they have a religion like their own!), then... complain about "lousy public schools"

Demonize the teachers, call them lazy, pay them as little as possible, hell, even make them buy their own supplies...then complain about "lousy public schools"

The last 20+ years, almost every republican politico running for office had a priority: Shut down the Dept of Education... then they complain about "lousy public schools"

The percentage of voters with crappy education that vote Republican is quite high in every poll. So, it's working perfectly in their favor...!!

Have you ever tried being a teacher? I assure you they don't "sit on their asses". Try it before speaking. There is so much marking and lesson planning that you don't see happening. The actual "teaching" is only 33% of the job. The other 66% is lesson planning and assessing.

btw the title is misleading, an "entire school board" would include the trustees, superintendents, principals, vice principals, office staff, janitors, AND teachers. I believe only the trustees resigned.

Right now coaches, janitorial staff, special education are getting paid, I'd wager the bus drivers and kitchen workers also but none of them are doing a damn thing.

Why the hell would a teacher be "working to get kids back in school" during a WORLDWIDE PANDEMIC? Are you out of your mind or something? If a teacher were trying to get kids back into school right now, that teacher's completely insane!

Try to remember that some teachers teach science and some teach health. These same teachers are collegues of the entire staff and clearly understand biology and the behaviour of viral pandemics far better than you do. These are TEACHERS, which means that they're qualified to TEACH. That means they know a crapload more about things that you do because otherwise, it would be you teaching instead of them.

Those that can't do, teach. It's a simple fact the only reason a science major is a teacher is they where at best average and didn't get the gpa to allow them to get a good job. Take my US History teacher for example, she was a history major, but she became a teacher instead of a historian or archeologist and I know why. Multiple times in class I the student corrected her on American history, more than once I brought in sources and published articles that disagreed with what she was teaching. She even argued with me that Ia Drang Valley was the start of the Vietnam war and America's involvement. She was a teacher because she wasn't good at history.

The current system doesn't work, kids should be taught fundamentals not the other BS being taught. Gender and sex have no place in a classroom, discussion of political viewpoints has no place. I had a teacher once pass out John Kerry bumper stickers in English class, which had nothing to do with English III. That's the problem.

Your reply did nothing to answer my question. Why do you people always ignore valid points and twist things to deflect to a straw man?

I think we've had enough off topic posts and discussions in this thread. Continue, if you must, through PM. Thank you.

None of the schools in my area are closed, haven't been all year. I think most of my state has been open for the entire 2020/21 school year with parents having the choice of remote learning.

The word come-uppins was invented for situations like this one. And I would like to add that unlike the working class people, aka "tax paying american citizens", they don't have to worry about the illegal immigrants competing for their jobs and lowering their opportunities and salaries.
